That was a turnover by LJ… It was also a block but he basically just went under the basket and jumped up into Florida big man’s hands and turned it over…Eman was stripped by great help defense after that…
Florida just locked down those last few plays but $harp should’ve had an open look on the last play.
Just rewatched it and I stand by what I said… LJ was blocked by a flat footed defender and the ball went right into Condon’s belly… it was a forced, wild shot that ended up with Florida taking possession of the ball…
i know you are a super fan of sharp… but you are giving him too many excuses
a block isnt a turnover… and honestly i didnt love that play because you haven’t dont that all year, now is not the time to discover new parts of your game …
But LJ was switched onto a big in iso on the 3pt… and thought he could blow by him for a layup… you are trying to make it seem like it was great defense that stopped Eman it was actually great defense that stopped LJ
this is a point guard on a 6’9 center on the perimeter in ISO… you want the pg driving most of the time
Haught played great D, if LJ was a more proven driver this would have 100% been the best decision
Eman play was a bad decision, not great defense … sharp from the start fo the play was being tripled teamed. he also isnt a great ball handler… he was just trying too force something up despite time on the shot clock
I acknowledged Eman’s turnovers above and said he should’ve gotten a better look… here’s the sequence of events… Milos blocked 3… LJ missed jumper and Jojo turnover after offensive board… LJ drives into a double team he had no hope of beating and gets blocked and loses the ball to Florida but I guess that’s not a turnover… then Eman’s turnover on a great strip by help D then a very bad decision by $harp to lose the game…
Those are the facts.
And I acknowledge that $harp made a bad decision dribbling into the same part of the court as LJ and got triple teamed… LJ & $harp should never be in the same corner at the same time…
Lj is not a turtle… LJ 99% of the time beats haught of the dribble…’
the defense haught play was actually so smart… he used his body to constantly slow him by regularly bumping into him with his chest but making sure not to use his hands… for the context of it being a center/forward that is such high level defense… had he just tried to stay in front him, or wait to block him at the paint, he would would have been blown by, had he used his hands it would have been a foul
i know you are trying to down play his defense as flat footed, i hope cenac plays that kind of “flat footed” defense next year… but that was high level defense… and yes a little bit of “i wish lj was a better driver”
a case could be made that lj, when he got under the post and realized he didnt beat haught, should have taken the swing pass to sharp on the outside …that is clearly the smart thing to do.
but that is like saying you should just pass to the open main in our trap system… its not an easy pass and he was being harassed physically, there weren’t nay easy passes … and honestly if i got a designed play, got the exact matchup i wanted, attacked it in that scenario… most of the time I’m forcing that shot up too
again my biggest problem with the play is lj hasn’t been a driver all season, why are we starting now… that exact play on a more proven driver is likely points at the ft line … lj just isnt good at drawing fouls …the exact same play set up for sharp would have likely been more fruitful
