Ugh. Jean has given up just one hit and it was a three run homer in the first.
Coogs trail 3-0 in the bottom of the third. 49 pitches so far.

He walked those two runners. Same as giving up a single.
Snake bit with injuries all season. Any more than other teams?
Is that the basketball arena behind right field? Yes, that’s Fifth Third Arena. Campus doesn’t have a lot of single level parking lots in the main area. Very compact. Maps of the University of Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati
3-2 Cincy in top of fifth. 2 run homer by Arbolita. 68 pitches so far for Jean but 3 up 3 down in fourth for Cats.
3-2 Cincy to bottom of fifth. One Coog reached but DP ended the inning.
3-2 Cincy to top of sixth. Jean gave up a double and auto-walk but struck out next batter to end inning. Mid-80s pitches.
4-3 Coogs in top of sixth with bases loaded and two outs! New pitcher for Cinci gets a fly out. PH by French was big.
Ha. Definitely hittable pitches.
I’m as ready as everyone else for a change, but Whitting has been letting the boys run on the bases this weekend. Been more successful than not. I remember the running game being a big part of offense when we were playing and hosting regionals.
And once again…relievers aren’t getting it done. Down 5-4 as cinn scores 2 b6
Jean gave way to Drezek with men on second and third with just one out. Drezek has a 6.57 ERA over 12 1/3 innings (11 K / 4 BB).
As an aside, very good job by the Cincy broadcasting crew, including Billy Hatcher. Knowledgeable, fair, and easy to listen to. Maybe a little too nice in regard to our issues, but get a jab in every now and then.
Update….Coog hitters doing their job, back on top 6-5
That Billy Hatcher? Also, what are they saying?
They say our relievers stink. Hard throwers but struggle with placement. Too bad for Antoine Jean if he gets the loss when giving up just three hits over six innings. Mention injuries and can they get the spirit to come back on a cold day down 2-0 in the series.
French with first pitch HR to push Coogs up 6-5 in 8th.
French with RBI single to push lead to 8-5 in 9th.
Coogs win 8-5
I kept hearing the PBP guy refer to “Billy” and I was wondering if it was Hatcher. Just got confirmation at the end of Game 3 during the signoff.
I know he played for the Reds after leaving the Astros. According to Wikipedia he’s an assistant football coach at a high school in the Cincy area.
Justin Murray closes the game out. Just 28 pitches over the last two innings. Makes up for 0-5 from the plate.
That was nice to win 1 out of 3. Nice trend.
Same vs UT.
I was really impressed with the amount of prep they did, never felt like they were reading their cheat sheets. Kudos.
Well that’s cool……sounds like we should extend him……again.
Hatcher was terrific. Very insightful
His HR should have gotten us to the Mike Scott game winner and a WS.
I wasn’t there for that one but I was at the Mike Scott no-hit clincher vs the Giants.
