I ordered that hat and it came to my house the day of the Final Four game.
I’ve always been an outlaw
Great point Katie and that is not cool.
I sent an email but…no response.
It might take a while to get a reply.
When I emailed them around October 2023 I didn’t end up getting a reply until nearly the end of November.
The manager was an UH alumnus himself who really tried his best to help me with my order issue.
He also expressed frustration that the bookstore doesn’t do better with all the things we normally we gripe about on here, and how they didn’t take action on some of his suggestions for improvement.
We really need a Campus Co-op store on campus.
I hate to say it but the longhorns have an amazing CO-OP that is wall to wall with swag. It’s huge too.
Let’s get on this guys
Pardon the ignorance, but what’s a co-op store?
Somehow … someway … let’s bring back Rother’s. That place was great.
It’s a mega store full of university apparel and merchandise.
Two stories
Thanks, but we technically already have that with the current bookstore. It’s even 2 stories like this co-op, and full of University apparel & merchandise.
Don’t they already have that at the campus Student Center?
I’ve been to the store in the student center. It’s small.
This is all my personal opinion. But I’d like to see something bigger with even more selection. Construct it next to Fertitta or the edge of campus. Somewhere where you don’t have to walk into the heart of campus to buy something
This is a demand-side problem.
I know….sigh.
I’m hoping with more continued success it will grow
There used to be students seeing other college colors and rooting for them……hopefully that’s going away and they actually love UH.
There will always be some of that, but the truth is that we just don’t get enough non-students on campus for football games to really drive those larger sales numbers.
To your point though, even when we have big crowds, there’s not really a good place to gear up within easy walking distance. Fertitta crowds would definitely buy more stuff if the selection and availability improved - might even encourage more fans to get there a little earlier.
I remember Rothers was brand new when i started school. I got a $500 Rothers gift certificate when I won homecoming queen. I was on a full scholarship that included books, so I went on quite a shopping spree. I still have a sweatshirt from that shopping trip…it’s still in great shape.
I’m older. I remember when the store that became Rothers opened my forth or fifth year by Chinese star in the old rail road building. Before they moved to the other side of campus.
Let’s look at it with a “different” approach.
IMO all businesses close to campus, on campus, UH owned businesses ought to have the following:
A UH proud discount offered to ANYONE. You have lunch at McD’s, Frenchy’s next to our campus? You receipt brings you a 20% discount to our bookstore UH merchandise. We need to create as much following as we can. All hotels ought to be contacted to make sure they have a U of H offering. All Landry’s restaurant receipt bring a 20% discount to our bookstore for U of H merchandise…not books. The possibilities are limitless. IAH and Hobby need to have UH POS. All rental cars kiosks need to have a UH offering too. If you do not ask you do not get.
We are at a crossroad where there is a real “buzz” about UH. We need to work harder than before to capitalize on it.
The outside shell to our stadium looks faded. Can someone contact a UH alum to repaint the shell? Come on that is not rocket science. Let’s face it. Our campus is not UCLA’s Westwood but what we do is what WE DO to put a shinning light on it.
