I don’t think he has another year available to him.
His years that he has played seems confusing to me, so I just thought it would be worthwhile to talk to the NCAA ( assuming the young man is interested).
I have faith that Fritz would take everything into acct.
I know it was a rivalry game, but BYU looked beatable. I still see BYU and Colorado in B12 championship.
Hayley eligibility? Pfffft. He has only been playing for something like 4 years. He has 4 left…3 at minimum.
While it seems implausible, the 1984 football team went to the Cotton Bowl under just as improbable a scenario.
The 1984 Houston Cougars football team , also known as the Houston Cougars , Houston , or UH , represented the University of Houston during the 1984 NCAA Division I-A football season.[1] The Cougars were led by 23rd-year head coach Bill Yeoman and played their home games at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. The team competed as members of the Southwest Conference, finishing as co-champions with SMU with a conference record of 6–2. Houston was invited to the 1985 Cotton Bowl Classic, where they lost to Boston College.
Saw this on Reddit. Someone suggested this is actually the only path for UH to reach the title.
Can someone confirm this? (For example, why does WVU need to lose 2 more games? They lost to Kansas State)
- Iowa State needs to lose 2 games
- Cincinnati needs to lose one more
- Kansas State needs to lose one but has to beat Iowa State
- WVU needs to lose to Baylor and UCF
- ASU needs to lose to BYU and Arizona but beat Kansas State
- Colorado needs to lose three more games
In most multiple team ties at 6-3, WVU has the tiebreaker over UH due to record against common opponents.
If WVU loses to Baylor, that flips, and UH holds the tiebreaker over WVU.
So WVU needs to lose only one game as long as that game is to Baylor. Otherwise, WVU will need to lose to both UCF and Texas Tech.
There are many permutations that get UH to the CCG. A very low percentage of all possible outcomes, but there are many paths.
Below is one permuation that gets UH to the CCG and requires WVU to lose only to Baylor.
Colorado needs to lose three more games
No. Colorado needs to lose only two more games.
There are still paths to the CCG for UH if Iowa State beats Kansas State.
I would love to be bowl eligible, but playing for a championship in the first year of the rebuild sets unrealistic expectations going forward, but it would be wild.
List who im rooting for this week.
Agreed. This is easier!
I wonder if Fritz brings back the OC if we keep winning, despite how horrible the offense has looked this year.
The offense looks better with Chriss running the show, but I still think we need more creative rushing attack. Hiring a guy like Brennen Marion would help.
The problem is that no single game other than UH’s own game against Arizona is a knock-out game for the Coogs. That said, there are reasonable combinations of games that can knock out the Coogs even if they win.
Ultimately, UH will fare better if the dogs (except West Virginia) win.
Utah over Colorado (probably most important)
Cincinnati over Iowa State
Arizona State over Kansas State
Baylor over West Virginia
The outcome of the BYU-Kansas game is least important. It may be a factor in some common opponent / conference opponent win percentage tiebreakers. It doesn’t matter for UH since UH played both, but it may impact the records of other teams involved in tiebreakers.
Thanks, you’re a good aggie. Utes, bearcats, sun devils and bears.
TAMU91 knocking it out with great analysis!
