Not sure I saw “TUF” or $1.1 billion anywhere in that presentation…BUT…

IF Tech is indeed including TUF in their reporting…then GODDAMIT WE SHOULD TOO!!!

We need to present ourselves to the outside world in the BEST possible light.

Look closer at footnote.

AHHHHH…

So I see!!!

Thanks for pointing that out!!!

So I guess that’s a part of “Funds Held in Trust,” right?

It’s interesting to me that they have that in a subdued font…as if they aren’t completely confident in reporting/claiming that.

But if they’re reporting it…then we should as well.

NO WAY we shouldn’t look competitive with Tech on this.

The legislation that created the TUF allows for each university to report their share of the fund in their endowment.

TTU is following what the law allows, which makes me question why UH isn’t doing the same at least in their quarterly reports. I wonder if they will include the TUF portion for NACUBO reporting, where it will be most visible for the next year.

Even if the largest estimate of $1.3 billion is included, the UH System is not looking quite as competitive at $2.46 billion compared to the $3.06 billion of the TTU System. If all the growth from the previous FY is attributed to UH (unlikely), we would barely match TTU’s share of their system endowment.

$2.46 billion would indeed put us in ELITE company for a public university.

Consider this.

That would be good enough for 3rd/4th best in the SEC, behind only UT and aTm (PUF schools), and Vandy (Private).

In the B1G, it would put us ahead of Nebraska, Oregon, Rutgers, and Maryland.

In the ACC, it would put us ahead of HALF the schools including SMU.

If this is indeed true, then we DEFINITELY need to report and publicize this. It’s the key to looking financially secure and intellectually BAD ASS!!!

If UH and Tech have such endowments, then Tech would be #1 and UH #4 behind only Tech, BYU, and (barely) TCU in the Big 12.

That’s what i keep saying…we may be the 3rd largest …most powerful public school in the state of Texas BUT we run circles around almost half of THE # 1 flagship schools in a number of poorer states

We are better academicically
We have a larger Endowment
We have more students

I’m not joking, we are poised to be the Houston version of UT-Austin.

Everything is in place…all we are missing is the Traditional Students but Dr. Khator is trying her hardest to weed out the non-traditional students which continue to hold us BACK!

I was with you until your last paragraph.

The 1927 record plays on repeat.

Yes…Dr. Khator keeps saying the same thing over and over again.

Am I the only one listening?

  • More housing on campus
  • More upgrades to make our campus more traditional (i.e. Centennial project)
  • Athletics is the front door of the University.
  • Athletics is so important it is subsidized by the Academics side.

Now…you don’t have the agree with her vision but it’s been crystal clear she wants us to become a UT version 2.0 in Houston and im fine with it and support her vision

Or a UCLA

I agree Khator is doing stuff to move us more to a traditional school. She was happy with the 6400 freshmen we accepted this yr.

I don’t mind being like UCLA as long as we win 14 natties in basketball along the way.

I’d cut every single one of our athletic programs if it meant that we could be a top 15 nationally ranked university Or a top 10 public university nationally.

Why not strive to have both?

We ARE located in the heart of the biggest city in one of the most powerful states. If not THE most powerful state, in the most innovative country the world has ever seen.

Why shouldn’t we use that the build us into one of the best academic institutions in the country and the world?

The book on the University of Houston had only begun.

Why not have both? I agree. But if I had to make a choice. I would choose academics over athletics every day all day

Maybe Tech can climb into the Top 200 universities with that endowment.

UHS Q1 2025 endowment numbers posted. Up to $1,181,000,000 or about
increase of 20 million. Contributions for quarter ~ 2.5 million.

Please note, these are financial statements
of funds that UHS is responsible for and therefore do not include the billion dollar endowment fund setup and managed by the state. I’m sure that the “total endowment” will be reported by Renu to include the additional billion and for national endowment comparisons.

The 2024 NACUBO report was released today, and it appears UH didn’t report any endowment data. The TUF portion might be missing from comparisons until next year.
