Update on Texas Hill Country Flooding

The bread we buy molds. And it’s processed white bread.

I buy heb bread and that didn’t mold in 3 months. Regular white bread when I grew up would mold quickly.

Then if you remember, cans of soda didn’t have 60+ grams of sugar in it. They keep pushing that up higher too

Thanks, I skimmed thru it and saw walking is a reason most lost weight.
They are more active than at home.

My bread molds; often we stick in the refrigerator.

The are more active when in Europe sure, but there food isn’t loaded with chemicals and sugar either

For most Europeans, walking from place to place is totally normal and even enjoyable," Palacios noted. "In Spain, it is very typical to go out for a leisurely stroll, usually in the evening.

The looks I get from people when I say I’m going to walk there, like it seems unheard of

Americans eat like crap. Processed foods is only a piece of that issue.

Same here.

Don’t worry, with a tragedy like this, the government will spend money to make sure (mostly) that it doesn’t happen again. Like I said before, most all our safety regulations are written in blood. This won’t be any different.

I took this from a NYT article on all the “goodies” in the Big Beautiful Bill:

A provision allocating $85 million to move the space shuttle Discovery from a Smithsonian museum just outside Washington to a NASA-run museum in Houston appeared to be a shot in the arm for Senator John Cornyn of Texas, who is facing a tough primary challenge next year.

Certainly that $85 million would be better spent on flood warning systems across the state, wouldn’t it? In light of the tragedy in the Hill Country, spending $85 million to swap our replica shuttle with a real shuttle seems like a tremendous waste of money, when we can’t seem to find money for warning systems.

I agree with the overall point, but I don’t see this as being something that requires help from the federal government. Both Kerr County and the state of Texas have more than ample resources to provide some protective measures for their constituents and guests.

And guess what the Europeans used to prevent the widespread availability of processed food from entering in their everyday diets? Starts with a “G”. lol

They don’t have access to trillions like US politicians do.

Slavery never ended, they just started giving us possessions. Like bro let me have a siesta.

The US health care is the largest industry. Pretty telling, they want you sick, fat and dying.

The G also insures Europeans.

Interesting, I go camping for a few days I come back and the flood thread is trying to get taken over by a wellness influencer.

I was unaware that Big Pharma had a stake in Central Texas flash flooding.

Flooding cripples New York.

No kidding. The conspiracy life must be all-consuming.

I think part of the problem we have is as simple as short memories. The rainfall amounts from this 1978 storm in the Hill Country were staggering. Yet it was somehow impossible to anticipate it happening again. And again.
