UTSA at UH

Because our coach is not good. Five years in and he has built nothing. I hope we are successful this year, but I don’t expect that to be the case. I hope we can start over from a position of relative strength. We are in Houston; we can pay a Big12 salary; and we should be a desirable job. If Pez can’t get the next hire right, then we’ll need a new AD too.

A little harsh my friend. He has turned over the roster to compete as a B12 team. Made position coach changes, and is continuing to make changes. Donated $1M to the Football Only Facility. Recall his trip to Georgia a few months ago:

…"And I took a lot of ideas of what their building looks like and what the day-to-day for the student-athlete looks like. We’ve been designing our building for the last six months. So it changed a lot of our thought process going into the building that you’ll see in a few years.”

CDH is not standing pat and continues to adapt. But at the end of the day, he will be judged by the team’s onfield performance.

I’ve seen this mentioned a few times as an example of CDHs commitment to UH but I have a different take.

By contract, there was an automatic $1mm bonus for CDH if UH joined a P5 conference. This was based on the assumption we would get an invite in part due to his coaching performance.

In CDH’s 2 years prior to UH accepting a Big12 invite (Sept. 2021), his record was 4-8 (2019) and 3-5 (2020). We can safely surmise that our invite was not based on CDH performance but despite it, yet he was gifted $1mm on a contractual technicality.

The $1mm donation from CDH was not money out of his pocket. It was a reallocation of his bonus payment that can be argued wasn’t really earned.

Who is bringing the “Remember the TDECU opener!” sign to rally the troops?

Really? It was still a million dollars he could have put in his pocket but he chose to give it away, would u so freely give away a million dollars I doubt it

All of the predictions for this year are based on last year’s performance and projecting it on this year’s schedule plus the loss of Tank Dell and Clayton Tune. This is not last year’s team, it is a new team built for our new reality. Our new starting QB has experience as a B12 starter and his back-up is younger and has a year in the program. Reports are we will see both play. We lost Tank Dell but our receiver room is still very talented and has play-makers. Our defense has been rebuilt and is supposed to have talented corners and safeties.

Let’s give these guys have a chance to play before we declare this season lost and demanding our coach be replace before the first game

Young upstart team with everything to gain and nothing to lose. Established team going in to a new conference, brimming with off season confidence with a new cast of characters.

UH needs to come out and play like its hair is on fire and take care of business.

It takes a special kind of thought process to say giving away a million dollars doesnt mean anything. That is coming from a negative bias way of thinking we have seen for the last 5 years.

Not me. That game is erased from my memory.

If UH guaranteed you $40mm (of which you’ve already pulled $20mm+) and they gifted you another $1mm because of what’s in a contract, would you not tell UH to put it towards the football facility fund instead?

Would you want to give more? Of course, we love our school.

I’m not saying that he should’ve done more. He could’ve been a total a$$ and taken the money but he did the prudent thing.

It just means they are pre season ranked while we are not.

Lol.
I think “Traylor for UH Coach - 2024” in the form of a campaign sign would get someone on camera.

Because we know being on camera is what is important when supporting your team .

Now we’re Big 12 snobs, time to act like the fan bases we despise.

Classy

Kind of weird to want the coach our current coach beat last year. But who said fans need logic

Take the over

I learned a long time ago that those who complain the most, do the least. Would I want Thanksgiving dinner with CDH? Not particularly. Would I like to follow a Cougar team that he’s coached to the Big-12 conference championship game, ABSOLUTELY. Just as long as they have HOUSTON on their jerseys.
