Coogs get swept in conference opener in Lawrence. The team built early leads in the first two sets but could not hold them before getting blown out in the third set. The team finished tied for last place in conference play last year. It doesn’t get easier as they conclude their tour of Kansas on Sunday at K State.
The team has no apparent strategy or the mentality to finish off close games or matches. That’s all on the coaching. Same as last year.

There has been a notable decline in talent level as well, especially since 2023 when they made the NCAA’s in their first year in the Big 12.
It was the same old story tonight. The Coogs had two set points in the first set but couldn’t close it out. On the other hand, Kansas had the first set point and it took them five set points to win it… but they did. Realistically, we’re not going to win a match against good teams like Kansas, but it would be nice if they could win a set when they have a chance and avoid being swept.
