UH has agreed to a home-and-home football series with Washington State, a source said Monday. Washington State is currently coached by Mike Leach.

The first game would be in Houston.

Good team to schedule. Coogs vs. Cougs.

So, we make another run in 2019… interesting. :sunglasses:

Nice.

I know coaching staffs change, but there are currently two Coogs at Wazzu as grad assistants: Drew Hollingshead and Shane Ros. Be nice to see them when they come into town.

They’ve been recruiting Houston hard this year, as is Oregon State with Jason Phillips.

The Cougars will host Washington State in September 2019 and then head west for a return matchup in September 2020, the program announced. This Cougars-versus-Cougars rivalry will be renewed for the first time since the 1988 Aloha Bowl.

Exactly the type of P5 series we should schedule. Great job, Hunter.

We are the Cougars because our early PE instructor was a former Washington State coach and started calling us Cougars.

Now I have another point of discussion with my in-laws…and my wife went to ECU.

The addition of Monday’s series leaves Houston with one only non-conference spot to fill in each of the 2019, 2020 and 2023 seasons as Houston continues to follow its non-conference scheduling model of two Power Six opponents in the non-conference schedule of each year.

Hmmmm…2022 has a TBA as well so it sounds like we’ve already filled that one.

But these wil be conference games, right?

Finally a game I can drive to!

Houston’s mascot can trace its origin to Washington State and a coach named John R. Bender.
