I think he’s going to be good here.
600K makes him the 4th highest paid coach in the conference….hopefully they give him a nice NIL to work with out of the shoot.
I think that he will have an initial culture shock at how empty that stadium will be. Hopefully winning will start to fill the stands.
He knows. Not much of a secret.
Somewhat unnoticed in the tweet is the apparent hiring of our 1st Asst Coach Anderson (formerly of SHSU & SMU)
…
Feels like some excitement building about the WBB program. Should they get their own thread, if that’s what it’s called?
CATEGORY … it’s called a CATEGORY!
I was about to ask who that is.
Damn, thats bold, but I like the confidence.
Chute
Thanks for the correction.
Auburn in the mix interesting - I would hire Tony green of Baylor as my lead assistant asap
Depends on what part of town you’re from …
“Damitria Buchanan enters her fourth season on the Auburn women’s basketball staff in 2023-24. She was promoted to associate head coach in May of 2022 and assumed the title of offensive coordinator prior to the 2023-24 season . She also coaches the Tigers’ post players.”
Sounds like a very solid hire!
Houston native too
I think it’s a nice fit w/ Coach Mitchell. The few criticisms of Coach Mitchell that I read about from Kentucky fans was that his teams were typically small, pressing teams. But would get pounded as they advanced in the tourney to play better teams w/ size. Maybe w/ Buchanan we’re able to bring in a big that can mesh well with the pressing philosophy?
I agree. She was out of a job basically when the Auburn coach was fired this past season. But honestly, they weren’t bad. They were just in the toughest conference in the country.
It will be an even better hire if she can convince some Auburn players to transfer to UH. They have lost a ton of players to the portal.
