The team let themselves down with that performance. The crowd was thinner than before but it wasn’t that bad. I stilled enjoyed the experience with my fam even though the game sucked.
You’re right! Hopefully they have enough pride next week against Central Florida. We haven’t ever played very well there so let’s hope for a better game!
All of the attendance talk is a deflection of what transpired on the field.
Yes, attendance sucks right now….how is it worse now than it was in the American? Well it is always ultimately on the fans….but, EDDIE NUNEZ and his department are seriously lacking….sending out a tweet to his 5 followers and say “pack the house” is not going to get it done……Renu should have him in her office at 7am tomorrow.
Now, I am more disappointed in the coaching staff , particularly Armstrong for not having his guys ready and having a middle school game plan for West Virginia….this is their FIFTH QB and a true Freshman!!! He should have brought pressure 20 different ways and made this kids life miserable….not sit back and let him get comfortable……absolutely no excuse….and I can’t believe Willie signed off on that dog crap.
Winning football combined with creative ways to fill the stadium is what is needed right now….the die hards and active alumni are going along with a small but loud and loyal student section….
Eddie should be getting the other 15 k to the game….Continue to win and you will build your fan base….keep doing it for a couple of years and you won’t need to “get creative “ anymore….tickets will be a tough get just like they are for basketball.
But right now Nunez is giving me”Dana Vibes”….not the sleaze ball side of Dana….the lazy side of Dana.
He needs to get his ass out of his office….If Coach Sampson is not too good to go to the dorms and rally the troops….then why on earth would Nunez be!?
The team let all of us down with that crap performance against an even crappier team. WV should not have even had the chance of getting close. Imma show up to TCU, but if they lose again next week, idk if imma even bother.
I know the urge is to associate the play on the field with the crowd size, but these are grown men playing for their future, both individually and for the team. If the crowd size is a factor in how the team plays, Coach Fritz has some work to do. Crowd size should not be a factor at all in how UH plays. I know NFL scouts take note when a player has a high motor, despite little motivation due to the team’s W/L record, or bad attendance. It tells the scout this player is a self motivator and tunes out non-field issues. Great players don’t need the extra motivation; they push themselves to be great.
Yesterday’s performance tells me the team is not mentally ready to compete for championships. By most objective metrics, UH should have beaten West Virginia. I thought UH’s mental focus, on all three phases of the game, was not what it needs to be to win championships.
Fritz has a short week to get UH is the right mindset.
7-2 is great but we could lose next 3 and and bowl game to finish 7-6. That 7-1 won’t be looking so great. Hopefully we figure out how to call a defense and take care of the ball on offense by Friday.
All those upper deck seats that are rarely filled would be be a perfect opportunity to get some less fortunate kids and their guardians out to the games……give the kids a UH shirt and a food voucher……the seats are filled and you might just create future UH students/fans…. You could also hit the peewee football leagues, the middle schools ( all socioeconomic classes) , etc.
Right and these players are getting PAID to play now, so attendance shouldn’t be a factor, and I never boo college players but now that it’s pay for play if i decide and want to boo a piss poor performance I will
The problem was the Black uniforms. I hate the black uniforms and think they should be banned. Bring back the blue and can the black. The team played much like they were attending a funeral. I understand about the deceased coach, but most players, being college professionals, should have been able to work around that loss.
