Appalachian State-Michigan? Try UTSA to open the stadium or Texas State a couple years earlier, both in blowout fashion.
isn’t going to be anywhere in the 70’s. a hurricane could come thru, Houston will still be 85 in september.
UTSA wasn’t actually THAT big of an upset. It carries more emotional weight because it was the stadium opener and we got absolutely throttled, but we were only favored by about 13. Losing that one was totally possible. Similar point spread to the 2016 OU or Louisville games.
If OrSt wins on Saturday, it would be the biggest upset we’ve suffered by point spread since SMU in 2016. That’s not to say that they can’t win – especially in the Transfer Portal era I think there’s a reason to question how much we actually know about how good a team is at the beginning of the season – but the consensus is that it would be the biggest upset in TDECU Stadium history by a pretty wide margin.
Maybe by point spread but I think that Texas State game would still be a bigger upset than this upcoming Oregon State game.
Texas State was significantly bigger than this week would be. In fact, there hasn’t been a bigger FBS vs. FBS upset since. If we were a bigger program, it would be talked about up there with App State/Michigan. If we lose this, it’ll probably be the biggest upset a Big 12 team sees all year, but it still won’t be Texas State.
Well, App State did beat A&M at Kyle Field in 2022.
Martin Marroquin @mahrowkeen exchanged Q&As with BeaverBlitz.com managing editor Brendan Slaughter. First up, Martin’s questions about Oregon State:
Point spread, expectations, predictions? I could care less. You are only as good as you prepare. Every Coach and player knows this. This Coaching staff is on its third season with the best overall talent in its tenure. For the first time since the Yeoman days we finally have depth on both sides. That is paramount for this season and the ones going forward. Would we have another 10 wins season? I see each game as its own chapter. OSU always plays with a chip on their shoulder especially since they are not in a power conference anymore. They have nothing to lose. First games are always tricky but this is where this Coaching staff is so important. We have better talents. We focus on the fundamentals, focus on us and good things will happen. This is what HCWF mentions when the wants to play a large number of players. This game is chapter one of 12. You only approach it that way.
I expect UH to win comfortably. My other prediction is that Oregon State will play Texas Tech, a hell of a lot closer than they will play us.
Just for the tailgating, highs will not be until after game. Supposed to be not to bad, but this is weather in Texas we are talking about, 6:00 -800 is when it is supposed to be the coolest, maybe 77.

“Show up with intent…”
All that rain passed us right by, not a drop. It is going to be blazing hot and humid as all get out. Houston will roll.
Wouldn’t be the first time they got Houston weather wrong, still showing possible rain with temps in the 80’s.
