I absolutely loved coding AL on a VAX in the 80s.

Another good piece of work from Martin Marroquin:
Hey Ryan, random question: what’s the name of the group in charge of the music played during games?
Marketing? Or the Spirit of Houston?
I don’t think they have an outside group in charge of music. That seems like it would be a waste of money.
Not Spirit of Houston, was thinking the licensed songs they play
Not sure about this, sounds like sunshine pumping. There were issue with secondary last season too when both Fox ( WVU) and Fifita ( Arizona) tore them up last season. Hoover did the same on the road.
Difference last season was the Dline was disruptive enough that it camouflaged issues in the secondary.
Whatever Shiel Woods installed worked. It’s been down hill since then.
We’ve seen this bend and not break nonsense Armstrong is trying here before with Dinofrio, it didn’t work then and it’s obviously not working now.
Plus there are so focused on stripping the ball they can’t do the fundamentals like tackling.
Not saying fire Armstrong, but get him some help, like they did in Florida. The guy they brought in turned that defense around.
Back then, we played all our September home games at night…just good common sense, good for the school, good for the fans. Now the networks dictate every starting time, no matter how ridiculous they may be.
Yep, and Mike was saying the opposite. We all remember more night games

I asked AI to make a covered TDECU Stadium.
AI must stand for “Aggie Intellegence”, it put the lights above the metal cover.
it also rotated the stadium 90 degrees, I did a mock up once where the lights and video board were above the shade structure.
I like that they are being bold. Especially against UCF.
We will see how they look tomorrow
Line still sitting at 10.5
I love the idea of having UH’s offense in my back pocket. Problem is, I think this game is a little more strength on strength than maybe the line would suggest.
I think Barnett being out is HUGE because although Washington was 19/20 last week, idk if he’s really built to exploit UH’s weakness.
Houston’s pass defense seems very vulnerable (so far)
Coogs are sitting at the 18th highest blitz rate, but only 120th in pressure rate. That’s a concerning combination. Also, 90th in sack%
Fortunately, UH has been awesome against the run. However, I do really like UCF’s running backs. This should be their toughest test vs the run yet by far. Their top guy is avg like 8 YPC. Similar to maybe NW, I think they can legimately go three-deep at that spot too fwiw.
This is objectively kind of an unbettable game at this number, but it presents a very interesting matchup.
I could make a case for UH covering, as well as losing outright if I’m being completely honest. UCF’s strengths do kind of match up w/ UH in a few key ways more than I was expecting.
The clear edge here is that Houston’s offense is an unimpeachable machine on paper, and by the eyeball test imo. And that is why the line is what it is, combined w/ a backup qb. Go get em.
Good Luck, Go Coogs!!
I know our pass rush is concerning, but I didn’t know the analytics of our defensive pressure on the quarterback is atrocious.
Essentially, the Defense is taking on all the risks of an aggressive blitzing scheme without reaping any of the rewards.
Great post by the way! Analysis great!
Free to your opinion, but Fox? 13/22 for 153 yards. UH had 4 turnovers and gave up a pick six. Not sure how you can attribute that to the defensive backfield, but go for it.
Fifita was First-Team All-Big 12 last year.
We definitely don’t pay him enough
Had to bet the Coogs, just cause. Also like Coogs -6.5 first half and O49.5.
What can I say? I’m a Coog fan, sometimes to my detriment.
I like that. I may follow on the 1st half
Selfishly, if you guys could just spot them a 1st score. Even a fg. That’d be better and then i can take the full game.
But that’d hurt the 1st half for sure
Crap luck there
That’s a sign that’s it’s going to be one of those games.
