Week 9 Non-Coog Game Discussion

Starting a new thread to discuss non-UH games happening this week. I’ll lead off. Memphis is +6.5 at Cincy this weekend. I think Cincy easily covers that and beats Memphis by 2+. TDs. Thoughts?

I’m rooting for Memphis, but I suspect Cincy will win.

I don’t think I will ever be able to convince myself to root for Memphis. We’re going to have to play Cincy either way, so I think I would prefer them to be ranked as high as possible when that happens in Week 10.

If Memphis somehow beats Cincy, we need to do whatever their defense does as well. Memphis is giving up over 700 yards of offense a game.

Cincy isn’t going to beat teams with their offense but Ridder and company could just run on them the whole game. Memphis’ defense makes our secondary look like The Jackboyz 2.0. That’s how bad they are.

I hope cinci wins as we need them to by highly ranked when we beat them.
will be interesting to see how memphis attacks the cinci defense

will,be interesting to see if Tulsa is consistent vs ECU

and interested to guage smu on how well they do bs navy

I read that and thought “no way.” I looked it up. ESPN shows it at 567.8 ypg, but point taken on their secondary. 440.3 of those ypg are through the air. Yikes! They are only giving up 127.5 on the ground and the rushing game is Cincy’s strength. So this game might be more interesting than I originally thought.

I think its best for us if we finish with just one-loss, and then each of SMU, Cinn, and Memphis each finish with 2 loses (one to us, and one to each of them). Then we get to play one of them again in the Championship game.

I would take Cincy in this game.

Memphis defense is just too awful for The Tigers to win.

Maybe it was SMU. One of these “contender” teams in this conference is. I just mixed em all up because SMU, Memphis, and UCF have worse secondaries than us. Lol I think Cincy is going to absolutely roll them. Unless Memphis finds a run defense. Cincy’s offense does sputter at times. Still rooting for the Bearcats though. :joy:

Cincy big in this one.

Memphis is dead last in the country giving up nearly 600 ypg. But what might be even more interesting to me is that the bottom 3 in points per game are all Big 10 schools! Of course, they’ve each only played 1 game so far, but still.

A. I don’t pull for memphis.
B. Cincinnati is positioned in the polls to represent the American well if they really go undefeated…
C. Of course I would greatly prefer to beat Cincinnati anyway and be the only ones to do so, on our way to a NY6 bowl game.
D. I don’t pull for memphis.

Scenario:

We lose to Cincy, then beat them in the championship game. Done.

So the championship game is always going to be a rematch now that we don’t have divisions

just a copy of the big 12 …

Not necessarily, but most of the time yes it would be. Each team plays 8 conference game, meaning there are two teams that UH doesn’t play this year.

Correct. We don’t play Temple or ECU this year. But at least we get cake-walk USF.

How about we just beat them in both.

For some of you stats guys:
Memphis:
avg pass ypg: 343.8-----------------opponent avg pass ypg: 440.2
avg rush ypg: 205--------------------opponent avg rush ypg: 127
avg offense/game ypg: 548.8------opponent avg offense/game ypg: 567

Cincy:
avg pass ypg: 195-----------------opponent avg pass ypg: 182
avg rush ypg: 211--------------------opponent avg rush ypg: 120
avg offense/game ypg: 406------opponent avg offense/game ypg: 302

SMU:
avg pass ypg: 335.2-----------------opponent avg pass ypg: 218.5
avg rush ypg: 182.5--------------------opponent avg rush ypg: 194.2
avg offense/game ypg: 517.------opponent avg offense/game ypg: 412.7

When you consider some of their opponents, none are that impressive.

No imagine them ending up ranked higher than us and we still get the NY6 slot because of the AACC tie-in. Heads will spin.

Just imagine how great you will feel when our secondary proves to you they are actually pretty good.
