I recall in the '01 Season, the marketing ploy was to entice fans to buy tickets to the first three games of the season under “UH vs. the State of Texas” or some such, as our first three games (all at Robertson) were with Rice, Texas, and TCU, respectively. They even had a t-shirt made up for this theme with all teams on it. Granted, the old memory is a little fuzzy these days but:
Does anyone else remember that?
Does anyone who bought the shirt still have it?
Does anyone who still has the shirt still wear it?

The 2001 season was the first year I attended games and we would spend most of the first half figuring out where we were going to party after the game and then after halftime we would slowly trickle there.
I have better memories of the 2002 season that was the first year I attended ALL the home games I remember running under the stadium from endzone to endzone to be on the right end during the 3OT lose to ECU, security tried to stop us during the 1st couple overtimes, but by the third they were moving stuff so we would not trip, and I remember the upset of Louisville in Dimel’s last game I don’t know if it had already been announced or what but the team knew it was his last game. Back then we had to learn how to enjoy football without worrying about winning.
The 1986 team may not have been the worst, but it was most painful to me.
It was my 1st year as a student.
It was the end of Yeoman’s career.
I went to all home games and many away games, but I didn’t go to the one game we won.
We lost to Rice for only the 2nd time in SWC history and 4th time overall. And someone can correct me, I believe we lost by only 1 point on a missed XP to end the season.
Luckily i had enough fun that i kept coming back and got to enjoy the R&S era before i graduated.
We won a conference title 2 years later with a win over Southern Miss and a domination of LSU at LSU through 3 quarters. Antoine Smith was drafted into the NFL and had a long career. It wasn’t totally hopeless or talentless.
