Who has rewatched our last drive against UNLV?

What are your thoughts? Solely garbage time, just some random good luck, a bit of both, or actually some high level WB play?

I’d say a mixture of high level QB and garbage time, no luck, just out skilled.

The game was over but at least we saved a shutout by scoring against their third team.
Until our OL improves we in trouble

I say give Ale a chance. He made quick reada and went 8 of 9.

And that 1 incompletion was a nice throw that hit Boogie Johnson’s hands but he didn’t reel it in.

Even Case Keenum was a fan of Ale.
So many coaches make the mistake of staying with the (or drafting) QBs based on their size. There are a ton of Todd Blackledges, Ryan Mallets, or name your favorite 6’5” draft bust.
And people like Case, Greg Ward, or non-statistical giant live their life a backup. You have to play for OU to be sub-6’1” and win a Heisman to start for an NFL team.
I think CWF will rotate QBs the next few games to see who shines when the lights are on.

Is there a replay of the game? I actually turned the game off the last few minutes to watch another game. I couldn’t handle it.

When I got home from the game, I erased it from my DVR. I saw it in person; no need to relive it.

There is no way Smith does not start, in my opinion.

There will be a predetermined decision to give 2, maybe 3 guys snaps though and if his accuracy doesn’t improve, it will be sooner rather than later.

A bad throw once in a while is a given. A series of them is no bueno.

Recorded the game, then deleted it when I got home. Wish I had the ability to sit thru it again, just to see if my observations were correct. Receivers seemed to be well covered while Smith was QB. That last drive, receivers were running in the open. I do remember 22 total yards in first quarter and 54 total yards at half. Does Tom Brady have any eligibility left ? ? ? ? ?

I watched it, but only it. We were there for most of the game. Ale was getting it out fast and accurately. Koby Young made a good catch in heavy traffic. The TD pass to Manjack was thrown where no one but Manjack could have caught it, down and away from the defender.

Is there an uploaded full replay anywhere? I was there in person, but want to see it from the TV angle.

I can’t find the full game either, this is the best I found

I watched it. Nice throw, good catch. But, I am totally worn out. My 1st attended UH game was 1976, we beat Rice and we won the SWC championship (beat Texas Tech on TV to break the tie).

2014, opener at the stadium, lost BIG time to UTSA. My fellow UH grad brother and I left at halftime. Here we go ahead again, embarrassing loss to UNVL, in the home opener.

I am 78, and running out of time. Since 1986, I count 10 coaches since Yeoman. I could be off on the count, which I’m sure somebody will promptly correct me….

The line is all or mostly newbies so smith was sacked and hurried. We couldn’t run the ball bc of the line. The solution to a suspect line is to throw to rbs more out of the backfield and it’s a must for whoever is the qb to get the ball out quicker. Even when smith had time, he’s not getting it out fast enough and it explains why ale had success.

I was disappointed in the overall performance and expected a team like Tulane to show up even if we lost. Now Fritz said he was trying a bunch of new guys bc of the 63 new ones so I think we get better as the yr goes on but regardless of who the qb is, the ball needs to come out faster. I did see 1 play where a wr was wide open in the end zone and he wasn’t seen by the qb.

I think Fritz isn’t scared to change things and like said he goes with a scheme based on what he has and both of those things are rare in a coach.

Since Yeoman:

Pardee left for Oilers
Jenkins fired
Helton fired
Dimel fired
Briles left for Baylor then fired
Sumlin left for aggy then fired
Levine fired
Herman left for whorn then fired
Applewhite fired
Holgerson fired
Fritz tbd

You get the picture. Coaching hires is not an exact science but offers plenty of room for hindsight and Monday Morning ADing.

The coach on here I regret losing the most is the late Jack Pardee. We essentially had an NFL coaching staff to compliment CJP. We all know why he left and what happened, so no need to retell that. I always wondered if CJP wished for a do-over on that decision.

If you have access to YouTube, you can watch highlights of the game.

Thanks Johnny for your post (you old timer you!). So, given the record of our coaches ultimately fired, perhaps we should have been dumping our athletic directors instead…who seem to move on just in time to avoid the axe.

Saw it in my recorded games and deleted it without even giving the thought of watching.

I wanna forget and watch our successes. Too much pain and too little time to dwell on the negative.

OKOKOKOK learn from your past but hey, I ain’t a player.
