Who is NJIT and should we be concerned?

I have no idea who they are…never heard of them…looks like they have a good record so far but hasn’t played anyone really. Should we be worried that this may be a sleeper team that we could lose to?

I think we play this team and continue to beat the refs and we will be NCAA Tested. I think we should treat this team like Duke!

Depends on what you mean by “we.” If you mean the team, hell yes. NJIT can win on the road. Should the fans be concerned? No.

I actually work with a lot of engineers from NJIT at my new place of employment in Secaucus, NJ. They make the tourney some years, but I don’t know much about them this year.

I believe that they own the nations longest lsing streak. It happenned a few years back. They seem to have turned the corner, but we (fans) shouldn’t be worried.

Let’s just say, I’m not worried about our home winning streak coming to an end against them.

the chances of us losing are small…but they beat fordham (@fordham) who is pretty decent
but i like this game becuase i think it will prep us for Memphis

they have a 5’9 spark plug who can light it up from anywhere and is pretty fast (cook)…those that dont follow memphis they have something similar

they have no defense but a good offense, all 5 starters have had a 18+ point game this season. and cook averaging 20 a game

I am always worried at our games.

I remember watching us play them and tree adiefe got into the game when we were up by 50 and threw down some monster blocks. I remember thinking then that, “who in the hell is NJIT, and why do they have a basketball team?”

I was at that game too. Penders era, I believe. The made me think we had a pretty damn good team, but as it turned out it was more what you said…“why the hell do they have a basketball team?”. Engineers usually don’t make great basketball players.

I suppose they’ve gotten better since we last played them? Couldn’t be worse…

they used to be the new jersey college of engineering (NCE) but changed their name to new jersey inst.of tech…to accommodate more degree plans
NJIT…not to be confused with NJT new jersey transit… they beat an unbeaten fordham…who managed to be a top 25 team before us…that loss to njit knocked them out of the poll…I would bet CKS is going to take them as a serious team…this isn’t coppin state.

CKS would take a game against the local HISD junior high squad seriously. CKS’s focus is never my concern.

I’m sure the players aren’t sitting around the locker room thinking they’re the greatest thing since sliced bread…I have a feeling Kelvin Sampson has let the team know they have a few flaws (to put it nicely).

I think your getting mixed up with Furman they were recently in the top 25. Fordham has actually lost to HBU this year.

Anyway NJIT looks like competent basketball team and as long we dont take them lightly we’ll be fine!

NJIT is more competent than Alabama A&M, Coppin, Rice, NW State, UTRGV and probably Lamar.

But good enough to beat us if we play really badly for sure. Unlike UTRGV (who gave us a scare) though NJIT hasn’t played anyone in the same stratosphere as UH this season.

They will be a Group 4 game for us (unless they move up 4 spots). We will be a Group 1 game for them.

They’re ranked 191st on Kenpom, their closest AAC analogue is USF. We’re 35th for reference.

Playing games during the holidays is always a concern, because the players’ routines are disrupted.

Kenpom might be used as a tool for NCAA selection but I’d never use it as a tool to determine if a team is good or bad. Just as biased as Sagarin.

I hope we crush NJIT, but I’ll settle for a W.
