If the tourney expands, which I hope it doesn’t. cause the bubble is atrocious this season, doesn’t it have to go to 80 teams?
4 regions of 20 each. 1-12 get a bye. 13-20, 14-19. 15-18, 16-17 play. You just start the tourney on Tuesday/Wednesday with 4 games at a 1st/2nd round site.
256 teams and add a weekend . . . . .

Yup the tourney is perfect as is. If anything they could go back to 64 but the play ins are nice for the 16s

Yes money is needed for the Conf to be competitive amonst the other P4’s.
If you heard CKS on his media conference few days ago he mentioned several times how the Tourney was a money maker n he understood that n supported it for that reason

The Big 12 conference’s corporate offices apparently make big bucks putting on the conference tourney, if I understood him correctly.
That said…
The NCAA tourney is a different animal. 76 would be good only because we could get some more Big 12 teams in and increase the conference’s payout on those, right?
I’ve supported Joprior’s tournament since it went to 64 and I’m not stopping now.

I used to feel that way but then I thought about how hard it is for a 16 to actually win a game in the tourney and at least have the play in games gives them a chance to win a game and earn a little extra money for their league.

Here’s a more fair way to do it. Let everyone in the SEC and Big Ten into the tournament. Then just add 30 at random.

2% chance the committee does the quality control to hand the bulk those extra slots to the UC Irvines or Boise States of the world so is it really dumb for him to guarantee the conference gets 1 extra team in the tournament a year?
