Keeping an eye on the draft, other than Triolo, no other Coogs have been drafted through the first 10 rounds. Also, no incoming players have been drafted.

Congratulations to Triolo. I had him targeted as someone to be reckoned with coming out of high school. A Trip Couch recruit I believe. Man that guy brought in some amazing players through the years. Hated to see him go. If it wasn’t $ why he left, then what was his motivation or reason fir leaving? And didn’t Triolo get redshirted his first year, or just wasn’t played?

This is great news since the incoming class is extremely good.

Couch left to go to the SEC; same reason that Frank Anderson left. Couch was hoping that moving there would better his chances to be a head guy. However, South Carolina hasn’t had great success recently.

Triolo was a starter from the get go at Houston and was the only freshman to play in every game in 2016. He was the big reason that Jake Scheiner ended up at SS for a lot of that year, but he also played in the OF when they were trying to get Coldiron’s glove out there. That 2016 team was stacked with bats and pitching…it’s too bad that Romero got suspended as I think that team makes the Super Regional with him pitching.

Have to wait and see. Usually, if guys are drafted before Round 20, they’re probably gone. Before Round 30 and it could go either way. After Round 30, and they usually make it in.

Are you basing this on the quantity of players coming in? Because perfectgame.org has our 2019 class ranked 84th on average recruit ratings.

You know more than half our class is from the Juco ranks. Its by far the #1 juco class in the country. The HS players are pretty good as well.

Is that a quantity over quality thing again because the same website that ranks UH with the number 1 juco class only ranks one of the recruits in the top 250 of juco recruits?

21 rounds down; Triolo, Bretz, and Davis have been drafted. No incoming players have gone yet.

Niceeee

Former Coog, Zac Taylor, goes a few spots after Villarreal to the Cubs. Taylor ended up at Illinois after leaving UH and was drafted last year.

Zac was one of the ones that was “purged” after the last regional we missed, although, it might have been his choice to leave. Wish he would have stayed as he had speed and ended up finding a power stroke as well.

30 rounds down, still none of our incoming players gone. At this point, it’s likely that, even if drafted, they end up here next season.

Lot of openings in next year’s bullpen though. Top 3 guys are all gone: Bretz, Villarreal, Roedahl. Definitely be something to watch next season.

So no incoming players were drafted.

Also, 1217 players were drafted and Lockhart wasn’t one of them. Crazy that he didn’t even get picked late. Looks like he’ll be back though which is good for us.

Should I read anything into finding power after he left the program?

Not really. Some of it is that B1G pitching isn’t as good as AAC pitching, some of it is smaller ballparks up north, and some of it is that he was just a freshman when he was here and he had a little bit of pop…just wasn’t a consistent enough hitter at that point (most freshman aren’t).

Yes Sir, very few Frosh can play effectively at big D1 programs level…the pitching is another solar system vs the HS level they’ve been seeing
