For its part, UH continues to upgrade the athletic infrastructure if there is another round of conference realignment.
A $20 million indoor football facility is set to open in a few weeks. A new baseball clubhouse should be done by the end of the year. The Fertitta Center opens in 2018. A state-of-the-art softball hitting facility and renovation of the academic center in the Athletic-Alumni Center also are in the works.
A year later, it’s not exactly the situation UH had hoped to be in.
But, as the Cougars have learned, there is life after flirting with the Big 12.
