“The most successful two-year run in school history”?! Someone forgot about…well, a lot of years. 1989/1990 comes to mind, as does 1978/1979.
By victories, it’s technically correct as we had never won 22 games combined in 2 straight seasons.
By winning% (Top 8):
1989-90 (19-3) - 86.36%
1978-79 (20-4) - 83.33%
2015-16 (22-5) - 81.48%
1988-89 (18-5) - 78.26%
2014-15 (21-6) - 77.78%
1969-70 (17-5) - 77.27%
1968-69 (15-4-2) - 75%
1966-67 (15-5) - 75%
By results, the '78-'79 seasons were probably the most successful 2 year period as we won the SWC both years, beat Nebraska in the Cotton Bowl after the '79 season, and finished ranked 10th and 5th overall those two years.
I’d be surprised if any coach would say that 22-5, 1 conference championship and 1-0 in a top tier bowl and 0-1 in a second tier bowl is better than 20-4, 2 conference titles and 1-1 in a top tier bowl. Duarte should get his hand slapped for saying the previous two years were the most successful two years.

Hold up a minute. I generally agree with you, but by no means is the Peach Bowl a “second tier bowl.”
Come here you underdog role let’s hug it out.
