Branch and Harris Earn All-Conference Honors

For the third consecutive season, two Cougars were tabbed for regular-season awards as junior forward Dorian Branch and junior guard Angela Harris earned second and third team all-conference honors, respectively.

Branch has been pivotal in the success of the Houston squad, heading into conference play averaging 4.2 points per game and closing out the regular-season averaging 10.8 points per game. The junior posted a career-high 21 points against East Carolina and has emerged as one of the conference’s best three-point shooters. Branch closed out the regular-season with double-figure efforts in five of the last six games. The award marks the first regular-season award for Branch, as she becomes the second Cougar under Head Coach Ronald Hughey to earn second team all-conference honors.

Harris has been a mainstay in the lineup for the Cougars since her freshman season. This season Harris took over as team facilitator, dishing out a team-high 88 assists. On Feb. 5, Harris become the third Cougars to hit 1,000 career-points this season, reaching the milestone in only three seasons. Harris earns preseason accolades and was named to the preseason all-conference second team. The award marks the third regular-season honor for Harris and is the second consecutive year that Harris has earned third team all-conference honors.

So I am guessing that Jazz will not be back? If so that is sad because she is so gifted…but once again attitude can be a killer…

Well, she’s still around campus and was just seen last week reading to kids in Houston with one of the BOR. UH Social media pushed out that she was doing it and she was still a member of the team.

Well that’s good, but strange news. I hope she comes back next year and has a great season. Same for the team…
