Breaking down 2018 UH football: Linebacker

This may be another area the Coogs look for a grad transfer

In terms of production, no area on defense was hit harder than linebacker, where the Cougars must replace the team’s top two tacklers D’Juan Hines (110 tackles, 6 ½ tackles for loss) and Matthew Adams (88 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss). Some of the blow was lessened with the arrival of graduate transfer Darrion Owens from Miami and the NCAA granting a sixth year of eligibility to Austin Robinson.

I could certainly be wrong, but Austin Robinson just does not look like a LB to me. We need to find some graduate transfers at LB for this year. That should be top priority.

LB, RB, and CB all could be areas for grad transfers.

Linebacker & depth at the cornerback position in mind are our biggest concerns.

In my opinion, we play the right people we will be okay on the outside, but we need a Roberts & Taylor type in the inside. Mutin has a chance to be a good one.

Johnson, Myres, and one of the Smiths I believe are going to be okay on the outside. I believe Zaire Taylor has a chance to be a good one.

I did not list Offensive Line because, I just have a feeling that Clements is going to turn that group around.

Mutin will play immediately…might not start…but gonna play.
