Burke Ready for IAAF World Championships

Burke will kick off action at the IAAF World Championships with the preliminary round of the 100-meter dash at 1 p.m. CT, Friday, where he will run in heat three. The second round of the 100 will follow at 3:20 p.m. CT, while the semifinal and final rounds will be held at 1:05 and 4:45 p.m. CT, respectively, on Saturday.

Burke will return to action on Friday, Aug. 11, to compete in the preliminary round of the 4x100-meter relay.


Day one action of the IAAF World Championships can be seen live beginning at noon CT, via NBC Sports Gold. Fans can find action beginning at 12:30 p.m. CT on the Olympic Channel.

Second day coverage can be seen on a variety of outlets, including NBC beginning at 2 p.m. CT.

Burke’s world championship meet began in the preliminary rounds where he was on the track for heat three of the 100-meter dash. After a blistering start, Burke crossed the line in 10.23 to finish second in his heat and book an automatic qualifying berth into the heat round.

Burke would move on to compete in the third heat of the next round, where he had the quickest reaction time in the group at 0.114. The Bridgetown, Barbados, native crossed the line in 10.42 to finish sixth in the heat and 39th overall.

Burke will return to action on Friday, Aug. 11, to compete in the preliminary round of the 4x100-meter relay.
