This is good. We need to balance our sprints with competitive throwers, vaulters, high jumpers.

Agree with section230 on the balance. If we had just a few more points outside the sprints last year…coulda, woulda, shoulda (Barraza was soooo close)

Man, when he went down on the last lap, my heart broke for him. That’s tough psychologically more than physically in a lot of cases.

I’ve been told all my life that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Brian Barraza will be one tough MF!!! :slight_smile: Very proud of him and all he accomplished at UH. I thought the world of him pulling himself up and finishing the race.

From an interview with Brian, the day after the race:

Do you have any regrets?

I have zero regrets. I don’t think that there’s any way that I could have run this race any differently. I gave it everything that I had and honestly, when you come down to this championship-style races or championship meets, all you can ask for is a shot, and I took my shot. And I will never be regretful of that. It’s what I needed to do, and I executed the way that I could.
