C/O ‘20 Athlete Sofian Massoud commits!

Hornsby was committed to UNC then decommitted. Makes we wonder if he has academic issues.

Absolutely not. He will finish top 10% of his graduating class. This kid is the total package.

Wtf… Lol.

Maybe he doesn’t like their academics.

No, it was due to Mack Brown going out and getting another 4* QB to commit without Hornsby knowing he was going to have competition in the same class. Hornsby wasn’t exactly thrilled with that.

If he enrolled at UNC he would have academic issues.

It looks like K Briles is trying to recruit him for FSU, along with Bama, Auburn, UGA and both the ags and whorns (among many others).

Someone said Holgo is wants two QB commits for 2020. How’s he going to feel about that I wonder.

Ah, but Alabama has not played for their conference championship in each of the past four years.

Good question. He knows the situation here, though…got blindsided by UNC.

I would like to know how Clayton is progressing and adjusting to our new offense.

You’re right, I assumed they had since they played in the last 4 CFP champioship games. Their records for the last 4 years:
2018: 14-1
2017: 13-1
2016: 14-1
2015: 14-1

So they only played 59 games instead of 60.

The Houston native comes to Cy Lakes as a transfer from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. The thee-star athlete is verbally committed to the University of Houston and holds offers from Rutgers, Boston College, Temple, Massachusetts, Virginia and others. Massoud was an MaxPreps first-team freshman All-American and second-team All-NYC in 2016 and MaxPreps second-team sophomore All-American in 2017. He will compete for the quarterback job with Khaliq Abdul-Mateen.

Massoud is listed as the Breakout Player of the District by Vype

Cypress Lakes Spartans

Cypress Lakes took a monumental step in 2018, winning nearly as many games (five) than the program’s first eight seasons combined (six). The Spartans have key offensive pieces in QB Khaliq Abdul-Mateen and RB/DB Kyree Anderson, who earned all-district honors on defense but should see his role on the other side increase. Abdul-Mateen will be challenged for the starting job by move-in Sofian Massoud, who comes from the Bronx. Massoud verbally committed to the University of Houston this offseason and is a solid dual-threat quarterback. Massoud can definitely hurt teams with his arm and his legs. Other top returners include first-team, all-district offensive lineman Luis Solis and second-team, all-district linebacker Dante Boykin and defensive back Eamon Perry.

Last week I was taking the train into Manhattan from friend’s place in Connecticut and while passing through the Bronx the line went by Cardinal Hayes HS. Multi storied school and appeared to be a big operation so suspect he’s had good coaching there. Glad he’s going to be a Coog.

He is averaging 16.9 YPC which is really good, but only 56% completion rate. Is that considered good for high school?
