Champions for Life Breakfast Set for Sept. 29

In preparation for the student-athletes’ next life step, the UH Athletics’ Career Development Program will hold a Champions for Life employer breakfast on Friday, Sept. 29. The breakfast is an opportunity for Houston businesses to learn about the UH Athletics’ Career Development Program.

Attendees will also have the chance to learn what qualities student-athletes have that make them unique and great prospective employees, and how to get involved in the program as both an individual and/or as an organization.

The event will be held from 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, in the Great Hall of the Athletics/Alumni Center, with breakfast kicking off at 8 a.m.

“We are hoping to achieve making partnerships with businesses that are going to help our students after graduation in different career fields,” Director for Student-Athlete Career Development Alexandra Slimp said. “This is our inaugural event, and we are very happy with our launch. We have received a great response from community leaders and local businesses who are really excited about working with our student athletes.”

The Champions For Life Breakfast was designed to bridge the gap between community leaders and business with graduating student-athletes from the University of Houston. Business leaders get to learn the qualities that student-athletes display, while those student-athletes can learn what to expect while searching for a career after graduation.
