The beginning of the 2016 fall semester brought a brand new college to the University of Houston. The college of the Arts, led by interim Dean Andrew brings all of UH’s acclaimed arts programs from the college of liberal arts, and puts them under the same umbrella.
“I would like the McGovern College of the Arts to be committed to excellence in the teaching, nurturing and support of all its students, with the hope that those same students will use their talents to give back to the college and the city of Houston,” said Kathrine McGovern in the news release.
UH President and Chancellor Renu Khator said she discussed her vision for the university and its arts education with Kathrine McGovern, who took art and design classes at UH in the 1950s and 1960s. Her donations have benefitted arts schools, centers and programs around the city.
Thanks to Katherine McGovern for her incredible generosity!
