Conference Champion…like that matters…
In case you haven’t noticed, there is a team playing in the Championship Game that didn’t even win its’ division, much less a conference championship.
However, they do put a lot of butts in the seats and viewers on TV networks…AND that is all that is viewed as sacred !
That is the problem right there… no body cares to be #5, did he really say that instead of top 4? Because he knows there is no real shot. They would not have put 13-0 Houston over 12-1 Washington or 11-1 Ohio St
This is precisely why everyone is fired up about this issue! UH was coming off a 13-1 finish and Peach Bowl win over FSU. If I remember correctly, we began the 2016 campaign ranked #8 and beat #3 OU on national TV. And this jackass says, with perfect 20/20 clarity of hindsight, that if we had run the table that year, we would have been “considered for a top-five finish.” Name one P5 school who goes 26-1 over a 2 year span while beating FSU, OU and Louisville twice who isn’t automatically #1, much less in the top 5. This guy says if we had pulled that off, not only might we be first team out, but that would only be a consideration. I’m willing to bet you that if UCF goes undefeated again next year they still won’t be in the playoff.
