Coogs in the Pros - 2017 Training Camp / Preseason

Adrian McDonald to The Bills.

"McDonald (5-9, 190) was an undrafted rookie signing of the San Diego Chargers in 2016. He spent his rookie year on the Chargers practice squad, but was released by the club last week.

The safety, who earned All-American honors in college, is known for having a nose for the ball. He set the school record for interceptions at the University of Houston with 17 in his college career. McDonald also had seven forced fumbles good for fifth in school history"

“Some good, some bad,” Keenum said when assessing his night. “We had a good two-minute drive there, but the preseason is about giving guys chances and letting them make plays. There were a few times I didn’t do that.”

Demarcus Ayers was one of 16 Steelers to sit out Pittsburgh’s second preseason game.

Baltimore’s Tyus Bowser had one tackle Thursday in a 31-7 win over the Dolphins.

Los Angeles’ Kenneth Farrow was pulled from Sunday’s preseason game after an ankle injury.

Detroit’s D.J. Hayden contributed a tackle in a 16-6 win over the Jets. Hayden has been taking snaps at both outside corner and nickel corner for the Lions.
Note: Hayden also was credited with a pass defensed

Indianapolis’ Lee Hightower collected two combined tackles Saturday in a 24-19 loss to the Cowboys.

Cincinnati’s William Jackson III continued his preseason recording one tackle in a 30-12 loss to the Chiefs. Jackson played 31 snaps on defense for the Bengals and four snaps on special teams after earning a start.

Minnesota’s Case Keenum completed 12-of-18 passes for 70 yards as he looks to take hold of the No. 2 QB position in a 20-13 loss to the Seahawks.

Arizona’s Richie Leone punted the ball two times, with a long 54 yards, for a total of 96 yards while also taking part in kickoffs in a 24-23 loss to the Cardinals.

Miami’s Cameron Malveaux recorded two tackles for loss Thursday in a 31-7 loss to the Ravens. The defensive lineman now has three tackles for loss in two weeks of preseason action after recording a sack in week one.

Green Bay’s Derrick Mathews racked up three combined tackles, two total and one assisted, before leaving in the third quarter to be evaluated for a concussion in a 21-17 win against the Redskins.

Washington’s Joey Mbu made his presence known Saturday recording three combined tackles and half a sack in a 21-17 loss to the Packers.

(McCloskey) did not record any stats in San Francisco’s 33-14 loss to Denver.

After being released last week by the Chargers, Adrian McDonald has landed with the Buffalo Bills after their second preseason game.

New England’s Elandon Roberts recorded on total tackle in a 27-23 loss to the Texans before being sidelined by a rib injury. The x-ray results were negative.

Philadelphia’s Greg Ward Jr. pulled in one reception for 29 yards to convert a third-and-long in a 20-16 win over the Bills.

Brandon Wilson is currently on the Bengals’ active/non-football injury list with an aggravated knee injury. Wilson was working at safety instead of corner before the injury. He can practice whenever he’s medically cleared and still counts against the Bengals’ 90-man roster.

Cleveland’s Howard Wilson has been sidelined since the beginning of rookie camp with a broken kneecap and is currently on the Browns’ Physically Unable to Perform list. Wilson was able to avoid surgery, and a midseason return is possible.

“I instantly got hit by about eight people, so it wasn’t the most fun thing in the world,” Sirles said. “Case and I joke around that I’m his No. 1 receiver now.”

A pair of Vikings quarterbacks could only laugh when Sirles’ highlight-reel grab was mentioned.

“I told him he’s my guy and to keep his head on a swivel since you never know when the ball is going to come his way,” Keenum said before turning serious. “I was definitely not targeting him.”

“Pretty much everything,” said Koetter. “He is hitting the holes hard in the running game, he can play every position in the passing game and he is one of our best protectors. Charles – he doesn’t say much, so nobody talks about him but he’s as solid as the day is long. He’s just a really good football player.”

“It’s definitely hard,” Ayers said Sunday afternoon. “People throughout that city have helped me grow. I spent the most important years of my life there, so I’m worried. I know my teammates (from Houston) are safe, but in terms of the friends I’ve made and people I know from growing up, it’s mind-boggling not knowing if they are going to be OK.

“I’ve reached out to several people and haven’t gotten responses, so I’m definitely worried and somewhat crushed inside.”

3) Tyus Bowser has been the team’s best rookie in preseason.

Natural pass rushers are the most coveted defensive commodity in professional football. Players who can cover are next. If you find a guy who can do both, well, that’s quite a thing.

Bowser might be that rare gem.

He made another two plays behind the line of scrimmage against the Buffalo Bills. But as he has all preseason, he also demonstrated the mobility to defend passes in the flats and even downfield.

That fits with what the Ravens saw on Bowser’s game film from Houston. He also comes off as a thoughtful, composed personality, which doesn’t hurt.

We haven’t seen much of first-round draft pick Marlon Humphrey, but of all the rookies who’ve played substantial snaps, Bowser feels the most like a potential star.

Awesome for Bowser.

That side-arm pass from Case… whoa!

Richie Leone is punting himself onto the Cardinals roster. DAMN!

Case played very well. Yes this was the 49ers 2nd team but he also played with the second or 3rd team. Heinicke played well too so the Vikings might keep three QBs or look for a trade. Regarding the Vikings first team this is another story. Two weeks in a row now and the Vikings looked behind schedule in all areas. That includes the offense (bad OL) and the defense. The Vikings were outgained 148-19 in the first quarter. The 49ers improved on defense and it showed. Three sacks vs one (first team) sums up their night. Bradford is going to have sleepless nights in the coming weeks. This has to be very concerning to their entire staff. This was a home game. Their defense is supposed to be very good. They were very bad. Keep in mind that even though they were playing a Shanahan offense this is the 49ers not a premier offense and led by Hoyer. Some Teams are having some major issues at QB. The Jets in particular. Can that translate in some trades?

Keenum, who starred for the Cougars from 2007-2011 and was with the Houston Texans from 2012-14, said the people he knows are doing all they can to help out.

“A lot of people are displaced, and I’ve got friends that have boats that are out there driving around the streets going and helping people,” Keenum said. “I think it’s brought a lot of people together, but it’s unfortunate any time something like that happens.

“Coming out here today, the sun is shining and I’m playing football. I’m definitely reminded how truly blessed I am,” Keenum added. “I’m keeping those friends, family, Houstonians, people from South Texas in mind.”
