Cougars' Joe Davis breaks UH's home run record in AAC tourney

Davis delivered a three-run shot in the fourth inning to give the Cougars a 16-5 lead over Tulane, the 32nd of his career to break a tie with Pat Hewes. Hewes had 31 home runs from 1985-86.

Crazy thing about Joe’s record is that he did it using a composite bat while all of the others on the all-time Cougar list did it with aluminum bats.

It did take Joe 3 years to break the record which was held by Pat Hewes who did it in 2 years. JP Woodward, who is 2nd by one home run, also was only here in two years.

The only other player in the Top-10 of the All-time Homerun list that also used a composite bat is Connor Wong who is tied for 7th with 23 homers.

And he did it despite being injured for parts of the last couple of seasons.
