Good job, good effort, Hunter.

How bout’ no, and lets do a series with almost anyone else? I know it’s an easy away game for travel, but their program is so bad.

I think you guys are assuming we can just play whoever we want to play. It takes two to tango, and the better programs really have no incentive to play us. There is way too much to lose for them (ask Oklahoma and Louisville about that). We all wish we could play A&M, UT, Baylor, etc., but if they won’t agree to play us, there’s really nothing we can do. At least it’s not an FCS team.

We need two games a year against teams in our recruiting area where our fans can easily travel.

Rice
Texas State
North Texas
UTSA
ULaLa
La Tech
ULa Monroe

Are all within 350 miles in prime recruiting real estate.

I am totally cool with a North Texas series.

I really enjoyed our trip to La Tech a few years back. Good food and nice fans.

I’m not exactly sure what our AD’s strength is, but scheduling is definitely his weakness. We should be landing home-and-homes with P5s, not the band camp school from Denton.

Your hindsight is showing.

If we have to play schools like rice, unt, tx St, utsa… we MUST counter balance that with some beef. Unless… you guys have simply settled.

Wazzu ain’t exactly OU or Texas.

Anyway, FBSchedules says we’re going to Denton in 2019 and they’re coming here in 2023.

Fbsschedules showing UNT there for '19 and home in '23. In '23, we’re already playing UTSA so I’m not sure that’s correct if we’re going by the 2-P5, 1-G5, 1-regional G5 that Yurachek has said we’d be using as a template. '25 would make more sense.

On a related topic, using the above template:
2018 - G5 at home (TSU will fill - pay for NIT)
2019 - G5 at home
2020 - P5 at home
2021 - Set
2022 - G5 on road
2023 - P5 at home

I mean…is there any reason the second G5 team can’t or shouldn’t also be a regional team?

No reason it can’t be, especially since UTSA is on the road and UNT is at home.

Here’s where FBSSchedules getting their info: UNT beat writer. Might not be accurate as he had originally reported a 4 game series.

I’m sure HY is turning down Bama, LSU, Florida, Ohio State, Michigan, USC, etc who are all begging to play us home and home. But, HY is obviously holding out for two here and one there.

Get real guys, when we were 0-11 it was easy to get P5’s to play us; beating OU, Louisville, and FSU has taken the blush off our rose. If we ever get one of those guys it will be at their house.

They added the North texas & Washington State to the schedule Online. Interestingly, TSU isn’t listed for next year so I guess they are keeping hope they can land someone else P5.

Pure speculation considering Boise State finishes a home and home with Virginia and WSU this year and then in the coming years has a home and home with Oklahoma State, Florida State, Oregon State and Michigan State. Not to mention home and homes with Rice and Cincy which means they not only make deals in our region but play quality teams in our conference. Who is avoiding who?

Considering we just scheduled Wash St. for a home and home, played OU and Louisville last year, play Tech and Zona this year, pretty obvious they avoid us.
