Young players get significant playing time
The Cougars are taking advantage of the new rule that allows teams to get players into four games without burning redshirts. Coach Major Applewhite said this week that a decision had already been made that true freshmen Logan Hall, Willie Smith and Zamar Kirven will not redshirt. On Saturday, the Cougars got some film to look at on running back Kelan Walker (game-high 105 yards and TD), quarterback Clayton Tune (12-of-23 for 186 yards and two touchdowns), wide receivers Peyton Sawyer (three catches for 25 yards), Julon Williams (two catches for 57 yards) and Henry Thomas (two catches for 50 yards, TD) and linebacker Donavan Mutin (fumble recovery).
