IT WAS GREAT

THERE IS A LONG POST ABOUT UT-UH. A LOT OF
CONVERSATION ABOUT BEING IN THE BIG 12. MANY
OF YOU NEVER GOT TO EXPERIENCE BEING IN THE
SWC. IT WAS FUN. TRIPS TO SCHOOLS SO CLOSE
YOU COULD CAR POOL WITH ANOTHER COUPLE. C.
STATION, WACO, TCU, DALLAS. AUSTIN AND WE FLEW
TO LUBBOCK AND ARK. WE HAD GROUPS THAT TOOK
IN A LOT OF GAMES. AND IF YOU WON YOU GOT TO GO
TO DALLAS FOR C.B. LOTS OF NEIHBORS AND FRIENDS
WHO WENT TO OTHER SWC SCHOOLS. HEY THOSE
WERE THE DAYS. GLAD THIS OLD TIMER GOT TO LIVE
THRU THOSE DAYS. WOULD LOVE TO GO THRU THAT
GROUP AGAIN.

It was what I grew up on and I didn’t know any different until it was over. It was definitely fun and you can feel it every once in awhile when we play a former SWC team now…even Rice.

Nothing beats local rivalries. uta by their selfish actions killed the Southwest Conference. Here are a few thoughts. This imo would be a tremendous conference.
By alphabetical order:
Arkansas
baylor
U of H
ou
osu
rice
smu
uta
atm
tcu
ttech
That gives you 11 local rivalries. Is Nebraska happy with the BIG10? No. That gives you 12 Schools. Speak about huge potential (renewed) for local rivalries. It makes perfect sense. Travel? Houston or ttech to Lincoln is about the same distance from Baton Rouge to Kentucky.

I would leave out ut, a$m, SMU and rice.

Remember, it is an ideal world where everybody played by the rules, did not invent new ones or did not partner with the ncaa. I should have added that.

It was fun but times are different now conferences are all about eyeballs on the tv screens so you will never see a league with a limited tv footprint like the SWC ever again.
