From what I saw in the Red v. White scrimmage, Sasser was the real deal.
#1 Sasser plays defense. He plays relentless, in-your-face, pressure defense that CKS demands. That right there tells me the young man will get minutes.
#2 Sasser has strength and swagger to his game.
Now, I’m reading that he has an outside shot. Seems to me, he has the whole package that CKS wants from a guard. Limited sample size that I saw in the Red v. White scrimmage, but I liked what I saw. I’m guessing like all FR, he will hit the wall and have ups-and-downs, but I like his game. If he has a consistent outside shot, he will be very difficult to keep off the court.
Looking forward to seeing the game stats. Rebounds, turnovers, fouls, etc.
My guess is that if we asked Coach Sampson (the Elder or the Younger) or any of the other coaches they would say the positives are we sustained no injuries, built some team camaraderie and learned some history. Mostly they would say the team got in some practice time - which is, from what I have observed, a huge benefit. I am not sure that the competition will reflect an accurate measurement of the team skills or any individual.
If anyone has a link to a boxscore - I would like to see that - since I did not see that tweeted on UH twit feed.
Box Score at the above Uhcougars.com link. I think the minutes are off considering that White and Gresham totaled multiple crooked number stats, yet played 0 minutes according to the box score.
