UH comes in 195th nationally (This does include Private schools)

https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2017/07/11/rice-top-texas-school-on-latest-best-colleges-for.html

However, 11 Texas schools made the specialty list of the " 50 Best Colleges in the South." They are:

No. 2: Rice
No. 8: UT Austin
No. 9: Texas A&M
No. 20: Trinity
No. 26: UT Dallas
No. 28: UT El Paso
No. 29: University of Houston
No. 35: Texas Tech University
No. 39: St. Edward’s University
No. 47: Southern Methodist University
No. 50: University of Dallas

What metric did they use to put UTEP ahead of UH?

My guess is cost of attendance. They’re saying that UTEP students are more likely to receive grants which drops their avg tuition to $5,868 while UH’s avg tuition after grants is $15,184. Even though UH students are expected to make over $10K more starting out than UTEP students, I guess it wasn’t enough to offset the fact that the avg tuition was lower.

Strange ranking to be honest.
