Defensive coordinator: Todd Orlando (Houston)
The Cougars held Louisville’s No. 1 scoring offense to 10 points and 2.5 yards per rush in a 36-10 win. Lamar Jackson was the runaway Heisman finalist because he had yet to be slowed down, but Houston sacked him 11 times, forced him to fumble and held him to 20-for-43 passing and 1.3 yards per rush. Also credit defensive line coach Oscar Giles and defensive backs coaches Craig Naivar and Jason Washington.
