OT: Astros fire AJ Hinch and Jeff

It’s tough being a Houston sports fan…college AND pro

I really hate losing AJ, the best manager the Astros have ever had and a really nice guy.

This thread is embarrassing. There’s no excuse for cheating.

Not only was Hinch a great manager, we get to look forward to playing against him, wherever he lands.

Tell that to the Yankees and MLB umpires! They have been doing it for over a century, to the tune of the Yanks winning 27 World Series titles!

So your excuse for cheating is that someone else is cheating. In that scenario it’s ok. Got it.

The Stros should have done what the New Orleans Saints did with Sean Payton — force AJ Hinch and Luhnow to take a one year hiatus and then rehire them the following year. It’s ridiculous to fire them for such a minor incident, something that should be considered jaywalking compared to the kinds of cheating that the Yankees get away with every year! —— conspire with the umpires to get favorable strike and ball calls that contributed mightily to the Yankees’ 27 World Series titles!

Certainly the Astros should retain the administration who allowed the cheating to take place. After all, another team cheated!

“penalties and investigation centered on 2017 season and part of 2018 only.”

So now they are saying the Astros placed cameras to steal signs from the Dodgers at their own home as well? Because judging from the crying that I have heard from the Dodgers fans the only way to explain why the Stros were playing so well in Game 7 and the Dodgers were choking so badly was because the Astros must have placed cameras in Dodger Stadium to steal signs from the home team — the Dodgers!

Either the Astros were super sneaky to get away with placing cameras all over the place at Dodgers Stadium undetected or the Dodgers were a bunch of braindead crackheads unaware of a team of people breaking into their facility to rig their stadium!

Yeah, the Astros beating the Dodgers at their own home really explains how the Astros cheated by stealing signs with an elaborate camera schemes!

The Astros shouldn’t be punished for cheating because… They didn’t cheat! And if they did, it wasn’t every game!

Yeah, they cheated and definitely deserve their punishment. It sucks to lose AJ and Luhnow in the process. Plus first and second round picks for two years? The organization is about to take several giant steps back.

The Astros have just moved up on the list of teams that the rest of MLB fanbases are going to love to hate. While it is sad about what happend it will be kind of interesting to root for a Houston sports team for the first time that is hated by other fans at a large degree.

Obviously the investigation centered only on the Home games where Centerfield camera was in place. Note: They only lost 1 home gm in playoffs in 2017-- gm4 WS against Dodgers. The tough part is there will never be concrete evidence that what they were doing helped in any way or was significant towards winning WS . Bottomline it’s been proven that they attempted to cheat or use unfair advantage and that’s tough pill to swallow after 50+ years of following the team. #ChargeOn #GoStros

The firing of Reid Ryan makes sense now…Firing Luhnow was by far the absolute DUMBEST thing in recent Houston Sports history IMO. Losing the top 2 draft choices in '20 and '21 is the big blow and firing the one person whom could possibly keep the team on track is moronic. The man was not involved in the cheating. Crane was already whining about player salaries last year. Springer and Correra are next. 100 loss seasons are on the horizon. Just plain stupid moves by Crane

Astros projected payroll for 2020 will be around 220-225 mil. Third highest in MLB. You can guess who the 2 highest are if you follow MLB, hint: both in AL. Crane not spending money is definitely not an issue. No one would touch Greinke’s 33mil/yr salary w 2 yrs still left but Crane went for it to try win 2019 WS. Also if gm/mgr were to return in 2021 the horrible events would start all over again n the tarnish with the 2 main leaders back in place would be too much to overcome imo.

Of a coach getting fired in Houston today, AJ was not on my list.

Theory has it that MLB didn’t want to do a lifetime ban on gm and mgr so worked out deal if crane would do the dirty work, MLB wouldn’t suspend any players.

AJ Hinch will manage again pretty sure. Luhnow back in GM role again not so sure!

Luhnow had zero involvement in the scheme, firing him was beyond stupid

Reid Ryan wasn’t fired. He is still in the organization.
