You could something wild like 10. Have the bottom 4 play into the quarterfinals. Because I agree about 16, not many are gong to watch Alabama or Clemson win by 3-4 TDs in a round of 16. A play in has more entertainment value. Especially because there is a good chance that match up is G5 champ vs SEC #3/4. If that Cincy-Georgia game last year was a playoff play in (they were 8-9), it would have had much bigger tv numbers. That set up with top 6 conference champs last year would have also put Florida-Coastal Carolina head to head in the play in games.

Aresco/AAC has the most lose w no quick expansion.
If he needs to stand on the table and get it done, do it.
Losing to another SEC team is a “quality loss”. Sadly the only thing you can do to combat this is beat up on P-5 teams in non con and bowl games.
