After helping lead the Cougars to their best start since 1987, sophomore outside hitter Silvia Pertens has been named the American Volleyball Scouting Report’s (AVSR) Player of the Week. During Houston’s perfect, 4-0, weekend at the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic, Pertens served as a valuable asset for the Cougars, playing in 12 of the 15 sets, where she averaged nearly two kills per frame.
Against tournament host Louisiana, Pertens tallied a season-high nine kills and posted her best hitting percentage of the weekend in that match. The Tallinn, Estonia native also recorded a career-high with six digs in Houston’s hard-fought, five set win over Sam Houston State.
