Postgame Press Conference: Major Applewhite on USF

Interesting, around the 6:30 mark, CMA basically calls out his offensive staff for the first half struggles. Said he had to sit down with them at half and tell them what he was seeing and how to adjust and that they were too slow to adjust prior to that.

And at 9:34, he drops an S-bomb. :innocent:

I noticed that too. Maybe it portends some changes this off season…just maybe.

I think so. And I’ve been hard on Major to this point but if he’s adapting, learning and evolving. Took more time than I liked, but the first steps in problem solving are always the toughest.

Agreed. I don’t think anyone here thought - or at least I hope not - that CMA didn’t see the offensive problems being in large part due to adjustments and play-calling. The fact that he is doing something about it is promising.

You gotta fail in order to learn

I like the new fire in his belly. Herman said it about his team: they have to learn how to win Maybe it’s just me, but I saw more fire in MA’s belly than ever before, and liked the comment about being a “raving lunatic” to motivate a full game out of the players. Promising.

This is not a knock, but as soon as he said “next man up” and could not resist!:laughing:

To me, the most interesting statements he made was about installing DK. He said that it gives us that 11th man that other teams have to guard against. He is like a Quentin Flowers. It make the O that much tougher to defend.

I guess better late than never, but he had to realize that KA was a square peg in a round hole with this O.

And when Postma was in we typically ran him on the Read Option once or twice a game, and definitely no QB draws to make the other team defend.

I hope he continues to grow. I know DK will not be perfect and have growing pains. But glad to see us playing a QB with a skill set closer to GW IIi?

Go Coogs!
