King is expected to see a majority of action at wide receiver again this season, although Applewhite said there will be a package specifically designed for him at quarterback.

Catalon, Dillon Birden, Mulbah Car and Patrick Carr will compete for playing time in camp.
“Can we run the ball from the tailback position on a consistent basis?” Applewhite said. “The rubber needs to meet the road and we need to do that to be an effective offense.”

“Actually I was upset after a lot of games,” said Oliver, who finished second nationally with 23 tackles for loss. “I actually didn’t think I played well in a lot of games.”

With Eloph out, the Cougars are expected to look at Auburn transfer Deon Mix at one of the guard spots. While defensive line is one of the team’s deepest areas the loss of Carter, who made eight starts last season, is a blow, but the signing of Texas A&M transfer Reggie Chevis should soften it.

I am guessing that package will be used when the line cannot protect and the QB is running for his life most of the time. I am hoping it is not required but at least there is a Plan B.

I sure hope the depth can withstand these injuries.

King will probably have a run/ pass option near the goal line. When Ward had the power run game two years ago, it was almost unstoppable on the goal line.

At media day, Cougars hope to move on from Herman

“We are hungry, and we are all ready to go,” said Oliver. “It starts with the front three, there is three of us out there. We do our job, and the linebackers will be able to do their job, and the DBs will be able to their job. If we do our job, we will be solid.”

I’m seeing King in a role similar to Greg Ward during his freshman season. Basically a little bit of everything and providing a change of pace at QB at times.

I’m guessing we only see this during clean up duties, when we’ve already hung 45 on an opponent by halftime.
