And don’t forget coach Dave Williams…I had the honor to attend when all three of those legends were coaching our Coogs…not sure we will ever have a trio like that again…and of course a few years later coach Tellez came along but I was gone into the working world by then
Coach Yeoman was a special coach, a special man…hardly ever heard him curse on or off the field.
Never forget I was at practice one day and coach was not too pleased with the defense.
David Hodge, our star linebacker, was standing on the sidelines as practice wound down…
But Yeoman was very displeased with the tackling. Even hollered dad gum at 'em.
He looked over at the sidelines and screamed for Hodge “get out here and show these guys how to tackle.”
Hodge came on the field and immediately destroyed an unfortunate Coog running back…Yeoman nodded and said thanks as Hodge quietly returned to the sidelines.
Coach always called me “young feller” but he also never forgot my name, although I was never that important lol.
A few years back my wife and I were eating at a restaurant and coach came by the table, shook our hands and said,“Myron, how you been doing young feller.”
I will never forget our legendary coaches…prayers to the Yeoman family

Really respect Coach Yeoman, was a fan before I ever got to UH…sad day indeed. He was actually the first person I met at UH…with the exception of the person who gave me my a Quad dorm key.

My Mom was so taken with him that she would have forged my L.O.I
He is the reason I’m a Coog!
RIP Coach, you will never be forgotten.

Sitting here watching CBS, channel 11, the 411 or whatever they call their news and not a PEEP about Coach Yeomans passing what a load of crap, but they are talking about UT playing football this fall!!! Someone should contact the station and give them an earful!!!

Butch, you are right. Coach Williams was also a legend in golf. I guess not having ever been to a college golf tournament or track meet, I tend to forget about Williams and Tellez. Dave Williams’ 16 NCAA National Championships, I think a record for any coach in any sport, speaks for itself. I heard him talk at one of the fund drives back in the early eighties and I thought the guy could probably sell siding to someone with a brick house.

When HCBY walks through the Pearly Gates he is greeted by a swell of folks welcoming him in. Coaches of all kinds, fans, former players. That is the scene I picture. Here, among the living, we will miss his smile, his graciousness, his character and generosity. He helped so many boys become not just men but outstanding citizens.
So Golly Ned this may be hard cheese but maybe on his side of the gate it is warm company with those who now enjoy the company of a true legend.

Mike, one of my first interviews at UH was with coach Williams…he took me in like a son. He even called me one time and gave me a job of keeping score at his famous AAII tourney.
Heck he even picked me up each day and drove me in his station wagon to the tourney.
I can assure you that he was a great motivator!
By the time we would get to the tournament I would be convinced I could step out there and win the dang thing lol!
And I never played golf in my life

Coach had insights into things that made you say “heck I never thought about that”.
