‘Track speed and football speed are 2 different things’.

Indeed they are, but the guys that can come close to equivocating the two can be special. Tyron Carrier was one of those guys and is still one of my favorite Coogs. Many good memories of him running the length of the field untouched on kickoffs.

It would be nice to have a few WRs and RBs with break away speed. Haven’t had many of those since Keenum left. Those WRs were fast! It was so much fun in 2011 watching Rice’s secondary try to man cover Tyron Carrier and Patrick Edwards while Keenum threw 9 TDs.

And I loved watching Anthony Alridge. Any time he touched the ball, he was a threat to go the distance. Just a little bit of open space was all it took. Guys with that type of speed are game changers, and they’re often the ones who fly (pun intended) under the radar because speed doesn’t always translate into football skills. We need to find those guys and turn them into football players.
