Sunday vs. PVA&M (W 92-72)

I really like Fabian…I think he is really going to be good for us…and good point on Brady…hopefully he can adjust and stay out of foul trouble. Any reason Harris played so sparingly?

Thought Byron Smith did an excellent coaching job today. His team ran some interesting plays and they really hustled until they were worn down. Would love to see him coaching Coogs when Sampson decides to move on or retire.

He looked lost on defense when he was in there in the first half. PV had 2-3 backdoor layups when he was straying too far out of the lane.

All Said and done, the first 30 minutes were very entertaining, from a “basketball fan” point of view. From a Cougar point of view, the last 10 minutes were “fun”. I go to games, personally, to be kept on the edge of my seat. I do enjoy watching Coogs win, but I like to be “entertained” by the excitement of frequently changing leads and hard nose bball. Saw that in todays game. Go Coogs . . . . .

I had seen that game before - many times, watching the Cougars! We seem to play to the level of our opposition many times - sometimes costs us the game. But last night the team woke up and played to their true abilities in the last few minutes - and beat the stuffing out of Prairie View!

"Once I hit that 3 he was like, ‘Oh, yeah, it’s on,’ " Brooks said. “So from here on out he told me ‘every time you catch it, shoot it.’ I was just following my point guard’s instructions.”

I think this game will have a really positive effect down the line. Sometimes we rely way too much on Gray to carry the offense. We had several possessions against LSU where we had 4 guys standing around and watching Gray take on half the defense by himself.

But Rob never got into the flow of the game yesterday because of foul trouble. When he went out with four fouls and us down 56-52, other guys had to step up. Galen and Armoni answered the call. So did Corey and Devin.

Yes, the PV kids began to run out of gas, but I thought the team took an important step forward yesterday.

Oh, and final note - PV might have been the best-coached team we’ve played all year. Byron Smith is doing a hell of a job. I’d bet that PV will be a force in SWAC play.

All teams seem to have this problem.

The Aggies had the same experience with PVAM and they have a pretty good team this year.

I liked that when the other guys won the game he let them finish it out. He didn’t have to put Gray back in when he could have late in the game.

Why was there no recognition from the announcer about these fine bballers during the game ? ? ? ? ? Some one, or every one asleep at the wheel ? ? ? ? ?

Good question. I don’t think I’ve ever heard them do it before, but it’s probably something that should be done going forward.

Good idea to send to Pezman.
