Are you comparing UH to OSU?
Are you comparing Applewhite to Meyer?
Are you comparing Tulsa to Iowa?

Meyer makes $7 million because 1) he wins that much 2) he brings more than $7 million in profit to the football program. Do you think Applewhite brings $2 million in additional revenue, much less profit?

I’m not comparing any coaches. Some posters have responded to me with
“you make a good point but our coaches get paid a lot of $ so”. Another words you don’t care if players make mistakes
the coaches get a lot of $
they shouldn’t make mistakes.
So my point is that the coaches salary is irrelevant because even the highest paid coaches teams make mistakes. Urban Meyers team got outplayed and maybe out coached
but they didn’t forget how to coach one night
I’m sure there were plenty blown assignments and mental mistakes by the players

I know from my time as a player that there is a collective psyche at work in team sports.

The players know when the vibe is not right but normally, at least for the teams I’ve played on, it isn’t talked about. No one wants to jinx it. Maybe if players did talk about more they could recover during the week and not have those unexplainable bad games.

I can’t explain it, maybe a professional psychoanalyst could, but sometimes teams just get into a funk.
