UH Soccer hosts SHSU (W 2-1 OT) and McNeese State (W 2-0)

The Houston Soccer team is proud to announce its partnership with the Lupus Foundation of America – Texas Gulf Coast.

In order to bring awareness to Lupus, during Sundays match against McNeese State the Cougars will hold a silent auction featuring various donated items. All proceeds will benefit the Lupus Foundation of America – Texas Gulf Coast.

Along with the silent auction, Olympic Medalist and World Cup champion Shannon Boxx will be making a special guest appearance and will be available for an autograph session.

Boxx is a former member of the United States Women’s National Team and has been named to four World Cup rosters. The three-time Olympic Gold Medalist (United States in 2004, 2008, 2012) is the only player to make a World Cup team without previously earning a cap. Boxx has been named to the short-list for the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year award three times and won an NCAA Championship with Notre Dame in 1995.

SCOUTING THE BEARKATS
Houston leads the all-time series with SHSU 5-0-0, last meeting with the Bearkats in 2010 when Houston won in a 1-0 decision.
SHSU is 1-3-1 so far this season and 0-2-1 on the road. The Bearkats lone win came on Aug. 16 against Utah State.
Sam Houston is in its 10th season under Head Coach Tim Brown.
Four players have scored one goal each this season and two have notched assists.

SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS
Houston leads the all-time series with McNeese 6-0-0, last meeting in 2015 when the Cougars won 3-0.
The Cowgirls are 5-1-0 this season and 1-1-0 on the road. McNeese’s only loss is at the hands of TCU in a 1-0 decision.
McNeese is in its third season under Head Coach Drew Fitzgerald.
The Cowgirls are led in scoring by Havana Johnson with 19 points off of three goals and one assist.

OTHER NOTABLES
This is the second overtime match for the Cougars this season and their first overtime victory since they defeated Texas State 2-1 in overtime back in 2009.
