The UH Innovation Center and Labs is located at 5000 Gulf Freeway in the Energy Research Park. It features 14,000 square feet of wet lab space and a business incubator center that can house around 25 companies at capacity, said Ken Jones, executive director for the Center for Industrial Partnerships at UH.

The incubator is the next step in the university’s intellectual property development ecosystem. When a professor or post-doctoral fellow invents something, the UH’s IP office can either license it to existing companies around the world or to a startup. The university will take a 10 percent equity stake up to $2 million in a company’s pre-money valuation, Jones said.
