The University of Houston Volleyball program continued its stellar start to 2018 campaign and improved to 12-1 on the season, after taking down Eastern Michigan in four sets (27-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21) on Friday morning.

In the victory over the Eagles (8-4), freshman middle blocker Kendal Haywood slammed home a career-high 17 kills and was responsible for 20.5 points. Sophomore outside hitter Silvia Pertens tallied a season-high 12 kills in the match.

_Following its four-set victory on Friday morning, the University of Houston Volleyball team (13-1) strung together another four-set (25-13, 25-20, 18-25, 25-13) win on Friday night with its victory over Duquesne (4-7). _

With the win, Houston has surpassed its win total from last season, having won five-consecutive matches, all of which being four-set contests.

Coogs are back in action against Robert Morris at 9 am.

Nice man! Are the ladies for real? Great to see the volleyball program making a come back.

They’re doing well and beating teams they should beat…which is a lot more than what’s happened the past few years. I was looking at some rankings and they’ve played one of the weakest schedules in the NCAA so far and they were ranked around #130 prior to last weekend.

I’m hoping for a .500 or better season in conference. If they do that, they’ve got some good recruits coming in next year that should help push them even higher.

The University of Houston Volleyball team (13-2) battled its way through a five-set match, but was unable to hold on to its 2-0 match lead and fell to Robert Morris (25-15, 25-18, 23-25, 25-27, 12-15) on Saturday morning.

After helping lead the University of Houston Volleyball team to a 2-1 record at the RMU Sheraton Invitational, junior libero Katie Karbo received All-Tournament honors for her performances this weekend. The accolade marks the second of the season for Karbo.

Having played in all three matches and all 13 sets, Karbo finished the weekend anchoring the Cougars’ back row with 5.77 digs per set. She tallied more than 20 digs in every one of her outings, including a season-best 29 digs in Saturday’s contest.

Karbo showed her consistency at the service line as well, posting a .925 serving percentage, while recording a pair aces. The Azle, Texas native also helped out with the Cougar offense, ranking third on the team with 19 assists on the weekend.
