Where will DJ go in the draft?

I think any player who averages 8 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists is going to be drafted. As a facilitator and defensive player if not for his scoring.

I think Dejon can make a very good living in the G League or overseas

He will probably go undrafted and get an invite to camp with a team. He isn’t on any of the mock drafts or top 100 player lists currently.

He will not get drafted. He cant shoot and his dribbling skills are not NBA level. Grimes probably gets drafted in the second round. No knock on these guys but getting drafted in the NBA is hard. Plus this year you have to account for the studs that skipped college and trained in the G league.

He won’t get drafted. He is much too raw

I agree that he probably won’t get drafted because of his dribbling. But because he has a high basketball IQ and hustle, someone will get them on there roster. He is also a great on the ball defender and is a decent three point shooter. He reminds me of Bruce Bowen.

Also I could see him as an assistant coach at some point and then maybe even a HC.

I’d be surprised if he gets drafted. Needs some shot development.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he’ll be on staff once White and Price have taken HC jobs in the next 3-5 years. Sampson seems to be taking the Coach K approach with his assistants…those who have survived, thrived, and will teach his program.

It would surprise me to see DJ on staff in the next 5 years. He will be playing ball and coaching will be the last thing on his mind before the age of 30

Hes done enough to get looks… he’ll have a Hinton like off-season and end up on some team…
He isn’t a broad draw that everyone will want him in a shooting NBA. But I guarantee there will beone team that will love what he brings on defense and as a playmaker and will bring him in even if he isn’t drafted

Agreed. He should test well enough with his vertical and wingspan that someone will see him as a defensive specialist. That will get him a shot in the G League.

IF he can improve his shot and handle enough to be average he could be a Pat Beverley/Avery Bradley type that is really just there for D.

i watched a few pregame shows… he got a ton of rajon rondo comps this week by multiple different analysts

Another good comp (probably better) given Dejon’s ability to get in the paint.

I don’t watch the NBA, but I would think he could play somewhere. I don’t know where you got your stats from, but this year he was 11, 5, and 4 with assist to turnover ration of 2. He shot 43% from the floor, which isn’t all that great but is the best of any of our guards who played at least 10 minutes per game. He only shot 34% from 3, but I don’t think that is a deal breaker.

I think he played his way into the draft. I saw some high praise for him. The Rondo comparison is great. If teams can covet Rondo for a playoff run why won’t Deeky be the same.

If the Baylor game turned out differently he probably gets drafted… Now he probably gets a two-way contract.

I don’t think NBA scouts weight collegiate game outcomes that heavily when it comes to player evaluations.

Idk… When they play against other NBA caliber players I would think they would weight that heavily… But again… Idk… Lol

No you’re right they definitely look at that. I just don’t think the game outcomes are that important.

Only Baylor has NBA players?
